Growing up in Smithfield, Rhode Island, Heather Kennaway Lynch began bussing tables at the Black Swan in the Holiday Inn Providence when she was 14 years old. While attending Emerson College in Boston, Heather fell in love with the restaurant industry. She began working at Pigalle with owner Keri Foley, a close childhood friend of Chef Barbara Lynch’s, from whom she learned all the fundamentals and nuances of the industry. Keri shared with Heather a passion and vision for what a great restaurant should be, and Heather attributes much of her love for restaurants to the tutelage she received at Pigalle. Heather has since worked at Barbara Lynch Gruppo for 9 years, first at B&G Oysters where she began as a server, and now at Sportello.
For Heather, one of the most rewarding aspects of working in the restaurant industry is having the opportunity to meet new people each day and share with them the cuisine and hospitality of Barbara Lynch Gruppo. She also thrives on working with a diverse and talented group of people - a hallmark of an industry that attracts individuals from every type of background imaginable. The people Heather works with bring myriad experiences, passions, and perspectives with them into the restaurant, and as the General Manager, she seeks to tap into each individual’s skills and talents to make every guest’s experience unique and memorable. In Heather’s own words, “I am constantly in awe of and inspired by my coworkers.” Heather’s main responsibility as General Manager is ensuring that Sportello is the best restaurant it can be and taking care of the staff, restaurant, guests, and neighbors every day, at all times.
