Though she attributes her passion for hospitality to her mother, Bonnie’s career really took shape after a year spent travelling the US. After spending time in the Pacific Northwest, the South, and on the West Coast, Bonnie became intrigued by the nuances and influences of regional cuisine and the role food had in people’s lives. As she investigated further she became fascinated by the massive scope of the gastronomic universe and values food as the intersection of many of her interests - art, language, history, politics, and science. Working in a restaurant environment, Bonnie loves that she is able to celebrate the beauty and complexities of food, and also is able to help guests make memories and celebrates their lives.
Bonnie loves working at Sportello because of its size - the great size of the personalities who work there and the flavor of the cuisine, and the small, intimate size of the space. As Maître d’, Bonnie’s day-to-day responsibilities include working the door, planning out seating for the evening, taking reservations, greeting and seating guests, accommodating special requests, utilizing social media for the restaurant, and ensuring that restaurant operations run smoothly.
