Erik Morrill, Assistant Manager

Erik loves the spirit of hospitality promoted across all of the Barbara Lynch Gruppo properties and finds the culture of food and wine education that lies at its core, a true inspiration.

Born in Detroit, Erik spent his childhood in the shadow of Motor City in Grosse Pointe, Michigan.

At a young age he fell in love with food and wine culture after watching his parents host elaborate dinner parties and wine tastings in their family home. Erik was encouraged by his mother – who was an exceptional amateur cook – to enjoy eating and preparing food and libations for others. She had officially set Erik down a culinary path after gifting him his first cookbook in elementary school.

Erik originally relocated to Boston to study at Boston College before changing paths and enrolling into Suffolk University Law School. During this time, he worked part-time in a café before progressing into a restaurant position at Mare in the North End. Erik began at Sportello as a server in 2009, with sabbatical breaks across two summers in Cape Cod, diversifying his food and beverage knowledge at Saki in Provincetown. In 2012, Erik was promoted to Assistant Manager at Sportello.

The energy and culture at Sportello are Erik’s greatest motivators. He manages the restaurant during lunch and dinner, maintaining service standards and ordering products. Other tasks include having Alex Nystedt’s back!
